SAN DIEGO:
Gateway to the Pacific

With all the plentiful amenities that any yacht and their crew seek, San Diego is a decidedly cosmopolitan, multi-cultural city that can provide a range of opportunities for its visitors. From 1st class dining, a multitude of 4 & 5 star hotels and spas, world renowned golf courses to some of the most beautiful beaches in North America.  She is a city unlike any other, with friendliness and services offered to the entire boating community – from superyachts to sportfishing vessels and day sailors. We can boast of one of the largest protected harbors and year-round fishing fleets as well as a bounty of underwater adventures for scuba divers and snorkelers. All this and more awaits you, wrapped up in our beautiful year-round weather.

Our famous neighbors to the north in Hollywood have flocked here for years to absorb the lifestyle that you too can experience firsthand. We extend the invitation to not only stop off in North America’s sixth largest city, but plan to stay a while and see all that we have to offer.

If terra-firma beckons, we have an activity suitable for every taste.

A small portion of attractions that make our city a must-see on your cruising itinerary…

YachtFest – San Diego’s Shelter Island Marina hosts the west’s only superyacht show every September.

Multitude of museums from the artistic within our unparalleled Balboa Park to the USS Midway Museum & our infamous tall ship The Star of India as well as the HMS Surprise, featured in “Master & Commander – The Far Side Of The World” housed amongst our bristol San Diego Maritime Museum fleet.

The Highly acclaimed San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park delight visitors who seek species previously unseen and in their most natural habitat it’s also the home to North America’s thriving Panda population.

With a fleet of America’s Cup class vessels now chartering in the bay you can relive the adventure by sailing along with their crew as they give you a taste of these amazing beauties.

La Jolla (direct translation: The Jewel) – One of the world’s most prestigious enclaves, this pristine coastline housing the famous La Valencia Hotel and La Jolla Cove beach as well as some of San Diego’s highest valued real estate.

Coronado  (direct translation: The Crown)– Home to North Island Naval Air Station and the often filmed Hotel Del Coronado…remember Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis in “Some like it hot”? This is where all the magic happened and continues today. Take a stroll down Coronado’s main street and you will feel as though time has turned back.

World class sporting events: The San Diego Chargers NFL football team, National League Baseball’s San Diego Padres as well as the Rugby Sevens, Red Bull Air Races, US Open and the Rock and Roll Marathon.

Del Mar Racetrack – From late July throughout September come and see “where the turf meets the surf” in old Del Mar…place your bets and watch the ponies run, and see why Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante as well as the ‘rat pack’ called this their summer oasis.

Historic Gaslamp Quarter – If the night-life is more your speed, you can find it all here…from Irish pubs and Aussie bars as well as nightclubs that allow you to dance the night away in style. All of these are nestled among the lovingly restored quarter in which every imaginable cuisine is offered.

Shopping…YES - need we say more? From La Jolla’s exclusive boutiques to the Fashion Valley home to elite European and American designer retail establishments.

Something more casual? You can always immerse yourself in our “laid back” lifestyle…slip on your favorite flip-flops & cruise with the locals…San Diego’s beaches are the finest in the country with amazing reef, point and shore breaks to suit every season.

Nothing beats our famous fish tacos. Originally brought to us by our close neighbors to the south, this delicacy of flakey fish wrapped lovingly in a corn tortilla garnished with homemade avocado guacamole (another crop that calls San Diego County home) and salsa fresca can’t be beat! A squeeze of lime and your taste buds will thank you! The locals will wash it down with one of San Diego’s famous microbrews…we have become quite the beer capitol – home to Karl Strauss Brewery (cannot miss their Red Trolley Ale), Ballast Point (Yellowtail Ale is a favorite), Stone Brewing Company (Arrogant Bastard Ale has reached cult status) the list goes on. It’s safe to say that every local eatery and bar you visit pours a house micro-brew. Go local, you won’t regret it.

Margarita time? Well, a city this close to Mexico is bound to be influenced by the icy concoction! Another favorite of San Diegan’s and tourist alike…see if a trip to Old Town Mexican Eatery in historic Old Town district of the city doesn’t make you feel as though you have crossed the border and entered an authentic Mexican Cantina.

Winery tours, hot air balloon rides over Del Mar or paragliding above the cliffs of Torrey Pines… You get the picture!

San Diego has it all with life at its simple best…

Marinas, Berthing & Anchorages – From deep water med moorings located along our stunning bayfront to the various superyacht capable marinas there is always a selection of berthing options. San Diego offers 72 hour anchoring permits with a view that is unmatched. Land your helicopter onboard in the middle of the bay as well.

Refit? Repair? RELAX, we can take care of it all. Contact one of our three major yards capable of hauling and helping any size vessel.  We’ve a long history of fine craftsmanship and you will discover why we are being called the refit capital of the west!

Come experience this city unlike any other for yourself…whenever you arrive, your timing will be perfect!
